88th Stirling (Braehead) Scouts go Global

Three young people and their Scout leader from the 88th Stirling Scouts were selected to represent Forth Region as part of the Kilted Krew Jamboree Unit at the 24th World Scout Jamboree.
This was the culmination of 2 years hard work, training camps and fundraising to enable a 3 week adventure. They explored New York on their way to the jamboree and visited Washington DC as a post city experience, taking in many of the world’s famous landmarks before heading to British Columbia, Canada for Hosted Home Hospitality, before returning to Stirling.
The 24th World Scout Jamboree in West Virginia was the biggest scout gathering with over 45,000 young people in attendance representing 152 scouting organisations from across the world. This was held between the 22nd of July to the 2nd of August and held at the Summit Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia, America. There were various activities on offer from: mountain biking, scuba diving, archery, high rope activities as well as water reality, white water rafting and stand up paddle boarding. The young people experienced many cultures while at the Jamboree and made new friends from all over the globe, coming home with not just memories but new badges, neckies and shirts that had been swapped with others over the 12 day camp.
The Unit Leader said “It’s a life changing adventure for the young people, and something they won’t ever forget, now having friends from all over the world. It was pleasure to be part of this incredible global event.”
