Scout Group Mops Up at District Review

Date: 9th Mar 2020 Author: Admin

The 88th Stirling (Braehead) Scout Troop were well represented at the Stirling and Trossachs district review which was held at Stirling High School on Wednesday the 26th of February. Our Beaver section handing out 13 Bronze awards, our Cub section handing out 8 Silver awards, and our Scout section handing out 3 Gold awards.  Well done to all our Chief Scout Award recipients.

The requirements to receive the Chief Scout Award at the different levels (Bronze, Silver and Gold) are age appropriate and the challenge increases as the members move up through the sections.  The activities to be completed to receive the award range from completing the World Challenge Awards, to completing an expedition and even leading an activity or camp as a Sixer or Patrol Leader.  Our award recipients have gained many skills not just camping or in a particular activity but importantly they have gained skills for life.

We also celebrated achievements by our Adult Volunteers – Nick (Scouts), Janey (Beavers) and Amy (Beavers) all received Chief Scout’s Commendation for Good Service. Janey received her 10 years services award and Anna, Darren (both Scouts) and Mya (Active Support) reached 5 years service.

It was a great night for everyone involved in the Scout group, we would like to take the opportunity to thank our volunteers for everything that they do!
