The 88th emerge from lockdown

Date: 30th Sep 2020 Author: David Cowie

After a prolonged period of no face to face Scouting over the course of lockdown, we are delighted that all of our sections have now resumed weekly meetings.

Despite us having to work in a slightly different way in order to keep all of our members safe, we have not compromised of the quality of the programme being delivered to our young people.

Our Beavers have gotten together for some fun games together and will be working hard on their activity and challenge badges.  Cubs have competed a scavenger hunt and created some big chalk art to bring a skill to the local community.  Scouts have hiked up Dumyat, competed some community work by litter picking, refreshed their core skills such as tent pitching and firelighting and have enjoyed a bike safety and cycling night. Scouts have also been running an online programme to allow for social distancing measures in that age group.

We are very grateful to all of our adult volunteers who have worked hard to get meetings back underway and we are extremely proud of the resilience our young people have shown in adapting to the ‘new normal’.
